10. What will I learn in this course?

Mission and Purpose

FoodSafetyTraining.US provides the knowledge for food handlers to safely access, prepare, store, serve, and dispose of food. The training program is based on the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Food Code. The training program is updated as the FDA updates the Food Code. Many states, cities and/or counties in the US require food handler training in order to work in the food service industry.

Scope

The FoodSafetyTraining.US program provides knowledge about food borne illness; personal hygiene; facilities equipment, layout and sanitation; temperature control; cross-contamination and allergies. 

Target Audience

The target audience for FoodSafetyTraining.US is any person involved in handling food for human consumption. 

Learning outcomes*

  • Recognize the different types of microorganisms that cause food-borne illness and how they can be controlled.
  • Describe the importance of one's own personal hygiene when handling food.
  • Describe how the food premises’ equipment, layout, and sanitation relates to a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Describe how to keep food at the right temperatures during the different stages involved in handling food.
  • Recognize the dangers of cross-contamination and food allergies.

There is no special technology or equipment needed to participate in this course and exam. You can use a computer or your mobile device.

This program is intended for anyone that handles food in the food service industry. You do not need any prior knowledge or skills to participate in this training program.

All complaints should be resolved within 30 days.

An appeal is if the certificate candidate or certificate holder is not satisfied with a decision made by FoodSafetyTraining.US. The decision can be about the training program, the training materials, the exam, the certificate or anything else related to the training program. He/she has thirty (30) days from the date reported in which to appeal to have the case reviewed at no cost.
