 By the end of this training, you will be able to:

  •  Recognize the different types of microorganisms that cause food-borne illness and how they can be controlled.
  • Describe how to keep food at the right temperatures during the different stages involved in serving food to your customers.
  • Understand the importance of food premises equipment, layout, and design.
  • Recognize what things to look for when receiving food from a supplier and how to safely store this food.
  • Describe ways to properly serve food to customers and store utensils.
  • Understand the importance of one's own personal hygiene when handling food.
  • Recognize the dangers that pests in food premises pose to food safety.

Requisites: To earn your food handler certificate, complete the training and pass the assessment with a score of at least a 70%.

Format: Online, self-paced

Qualifications of course designer/developer: Certified Public Health Inspector (CIPHI) and Certificate in Infection Control (CIC).
