Program purpose:
FoodSafetyTraining.US provides the knowledge for food handlers to safely access, prepare, store, serve, and dispose of food. Training is fundamentally important as food handlers constantly make decisions and take actions which can affect the health of others. Education and motivation of food handlers to take care of all aspects of food safety is the key to preventing food-borne illness. The purpose of this food handler training course is to prevent food-borne illness by ensuring food is safe to eat.
Scope:
The FoodSafetyTraining.US program provides knowledge about food borne illness; personal hygiene; facilities equipment, layout and sanitation; temperature control; cross-contamination and allergies.

Recognize the different types of microorganisms that cause food-borne illness and how they can be controlled.

Describe the importance of one's own personal hygiene when handling food.

Describe how the food premises’ equipment, layout, and sanitation relates to a safe and hygienic environment.

Describe how to keep food at the right temperatures during the different stages involved in handling food.

Recognize the dangers of cross-contamination and food allergies.
Requisites: To earn your food handler certificate, complete the training and pass the assessment with a score of at least a 70%.

Qualifications of course designer/developer: Certified Public Health Inspector (CIPHI) and Certificate in Infection Control (CIC).
